3rd Batman film has a name - FINALLY.

News comes from all over today that Christopher Nolan (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Inception) has finally revealed the name of the final chapter in the Batman trilogy. The movie is to be titled "The Dark Knight Rises", and its headed for a 2012 release date. The film will NOT be in 3D (thank god), but it will be shot in high definition and IMAX cameras. Its been said that The Riddler will not be a villian featured in the film, but rumors are circulating all over that the news could be hoax/riddle. Only time will tell. I think that I can speak for all of us that I am so damn excited.

Diamond Select - Ghostbusters - Stay Puft Marshmallow Man Bank

Recently, Ive come to give more attention to an old childhood enjoyment of mine-Ghostbusters. A recent purchase of mine is the 11" Stay Puft Marshmallow Man Bank.
The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man is a fictional mascot for the Stay Puft Marshmallow Corporation, a fictional company from the Ghostbusters universe. It first appears as a picture logo on a prop package of marshmallows in the 1984 movie "Ghostbusters". At the climax of the movie, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man appears as a giant, obese figure made solely of marshmallows and standing over 100ft tall. Along with the Ghostbusters logo, the image of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man has become one of the most recognizable emblems of the franchise.
The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man bank is a wonderful item. Perfect for any Ghostbusters fans' collection, it can be displayed as a figure or used for its intended purpose to hold loose change. Luckily, the character's image itself is not very complex therefor it wasnt hard for the bank to mimic it. Basically the bank is good enough to be used as a high-end collectible. The bank is made of a vinyl, a soft feeling organic compound that gives the bank an almost matte looing finish. My only gripe is that the quality control in the painting is a bit off in a few spots but for US$20.00 you cant complain. Overall I would say that this is an awesome and very unique piece that no Ghostbusters fan/collector can go with out!

A slot located on his back for your change to be inserted.

Sneak Peak! Brand New Hot Toys Batman Begins Figures!

Hands down one of the most exciting collectible news to date. Hot Toys has been releasing picture around the internet of these two new jems to add to the Batman Begins line. Both come from a scene in Christopher Nolan's 2005 movie "Batman Begins", in which Batman saves his childhood friend Rachael Dawes from Arkham Asylum and the evil Dr. Crane aka Scarecrow. While confronting Scarecrow, Batman turns Crane's toxin gas in his own face. Scarecrow hallucinates Batman into a slime drooling Demon bat.
Now I dont know much about these figures. Hot Toys hasnt officially released details on them. Word is that they're going to be released as a set, and only available to Japan. I hope that isnt true, considering I live in the USA. Either way, I can not be more excited about this.

I think I can speak for any Ghostbusters fan when I say "finally".
Brand new for 2010, nearly 25 years after its premier, Stay Puft brand marshmallows are finally available to the consumer public.

Now 25 years later, the brand is a reality. These marshmallows are gourmet, delicate and delicious, and just for fun...caffeinated. They're 100% a licensed Ghostbusters collectible, featuring a rubbery-texture box for display after you finish these delectable 1980's caffeinated goodness. Get yours today!

A different type of haul.

Today Drea and I made a trip to our local Toys R' Us. Since our last trip that was talked about in a recent post, we've both had our eyes set on 2 vinyl figures. This was the was a very different type of purchase for us. Drea, which collects nothing but Star Wars collectibles, and I usually collect Batman & Terminator collectibles, bought completely un-related toys.
My purchase was the Diamond Select Stay Puft Marshmallow Man vinyl bank which most of you may recognize from the 1984 movie "Ghostbusters". Ill post an actual review and pictures soon. I bought Drea a super sized Yoshi vinyl figure which everyone recognizes from the Mario Bros. franchise.
It was great to actually make some toy purchases that werent in our normal range. They're both great toys and we enjoy them very much.

Ghostbusters 3 Confirmed!

I grew up on Ghostbusters so for me this is definitely exciting news. Rumors of a 3rd instalment to the Ghostbusters series for quite some time now. For the first time in 21 years, the original cast of Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Bill Murray will be puting those tan jumpsuits and backpacks on starring on the big screen once again.
The news came from U.S.'s Spike SCREAM Awards, with actor Bill Murray accepting the award for "Best Horror Movie" - Zombieland. Murray entered the stage in full Ghostbusters fatigues. The crowd standed in ovation, excited that the film is finally going to see the light of day. We cant wait to see the film, and are definitely excited to see all the collectibles. We'll keep you posted on an official release.

That new toy smell...

Its been a while since Drea and I have actually purchased new toys. So a quick trip to Toys R' Us was long overdue for us. As we looked through the store we came across the Star Wars isle. We were amazed to see that a lot of the items were discounted up to 70% off. As were looking for something that Drea would like, something caught my eye. A normally US$10.99 Hasbro Mighty Mugg was only US$2.80. Drea is absolutely in love with Mighty Muggs so of course we had to get it. Now I wanted to find something for myself. In every Toys R' Us store there are always a whole isle full of collectibles such as McFarlane or NECA. Looking through the items I found a NECA 7" Jason Voorhees from the 2009 remake of "Friday The 13th". Aside from Hot Toys, Im a collector of NECA as well. Plus, with the American Holiday Halloween coming up soon, its a perfect purchase.
So the day proved to be a pretty good toy haul. After Toys R' Us we headed to another store to purchase another shelving unit for my collection. This is the second shelf that Ive bought to replace my original cabinet which I talked about in a recent post. Ill post pictures of the new shelves with my organized collection soon.

Hot Toys - Up Close & Personal with War Machine

Recently Hong Kong toymaker Hot Toys offered us a closer look at their upcoming release of the 1/6th scaled War Machine from Iron Man 2. They show us the new addition to the figure, the "Ex-Wife" missile. I find it a bit odd they would add such a lame weapon, but hey anything that makes it movie accurate, right? Enjoy.
