The passing of a fellow toy photographer.

Recently a fellow toy photographer has passed away. We did not know him personally, but anytime someone passes away I feel its respectful to leave your condolences. Its sad because I just recently came across his work, and enjoyed it very much. Its always a tragedy when someone dies, and its even sadder to us considering we shared such a love with the man. We feel for his friends and family, and wish them the best in getting through this hardship. RIP Jason...collect as many figures as you can in heaven buddy, make us proud. <33

IRON MAN 2 - Extravaganza!!! Part 1

Hey everyone, how are you all doing?! Its been so long since our last post...Im actually embarrassed.
So heres the deal: I told you all I was going to keep you up-to-date with all the Iron Man 2 news, and sadly I fell far behind. So since Im so far behind, I decided that I'd do everything and anything Iron Man 2 in 2 posts. So here it goes everyone, I hope you all enjoy it and once again sorry for falling so far behind. Just to warn you, if you havent seen the movie you might not want to read this because there is some spoilers in here. Read at your own risk. =]

Iron Man 2 is a 2010 American superhero film and another installment to the highly successful Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is the sequel to 2008's Iron Man and the second film in a planned trilogy. Directed by Jon Favreau, the film stars Robert Downey Jr., who reprises his role as Tony Stark. In the movie, Stark has revealed his identity as Iron Man and is resisting requests by the US government to hand over the technology that they consider a mechanized weapon. With Stark fighting his own battles, he soon faces a man named Ivan Vanko(Mickey Rourke) a.k.a. Whiplash , who has duplicated the technology and built weapons of his own. Battles soon begin and Iron Man is pushed to save the people that need a hero.

The movie is a smash hit from beginning to end...a truly amazing viewer experience. You feel adrenline every moment of an action scene, fall in love for the characters and their interactions with each other, and fill with warmth with every quirky comedic dialogue. The movie features amazing visuals on such a grand scale and even a suprise to me, very humorous moments between Tony Stark and others.

The suits were very impressive, even more than the first, and you could tell that production design really worked hard in this film. Every "Mark" was more impressive than the one before it and made me gasp with amazement. The CGI was the most impressive thing for me, as unlike most movies...this looked very real. The racing scene in Monaco was actually filmed in California, but thanks to the people in the graphics department they brought the scene to much more of a grand level. The fighting scenes were awesome and kept me on the edge of my seat and bouncing with with every hit.

The cast of Iron Man 2 were great, and each one brought a little to the table. Robert Downey Jr. gave so much to the screen play and I think that like Christian Bale and Batman before him, Downey IS Iron Man. His quirkeyness, stubborness, and cockyness mold into a very interesting character and makes him such a favorite with people. Gwyneth Paltrow returning as Virginia "Pepper" Potts was a very smart decision. Her interaction with Stark proves to be a one of a kind relationship and adds so much to the story line. It was also a joy to see Jon Favreau return as Happy Hogan, Stark's bodyguard/chauffeur and actually provide a little comic relief to the film. Mickey Rourke as Ivan Vanko a.k.a. Whiplash(although never refered to as "Whiplash" in the movie) was hands down my favorite character. His performance provided so many different layers to the character of Vanko. One minute you're feeling remorse for the man, and the next you're down-right scared of him. Rourke performed as a villian perfectly and played the perfect antagonist for Stark.

I can honestly say that I really loved this movie...but unfortunately its not exempt from a couple negative opinions. There were a couple characters that I have a gripe against. First off...Scarlett Johanson's performance of Natalie Rushman/Natasha Romanoff was flat and irritating, and with the exeption of a couple comedic one-liners, provided nothing to the film. In my opinion her character was completely unneeded, and I believe that the only reason she was casted was to apeal as a sex symbol to attract men to the film. I believe that Paltrow's character Pepper could have delivered any of the lines and the story line would have continued fine. In other words, the plot would have been the same without the character of Natalie Rushman/Natasha Romanoff. Maybe if another person had been casted, my view would be different.Another character I found a bit irritating would be Don Cheedle as Lt. Colonel James "Rhodey" Rhodes. I enjoyed Terrence Howard's performance of Rhodey in the first film, but I have to say Cheedle's rendition just falls short of expectations. In the first film, although being a "tough" military man, Rhodey was very comedic and warming. Cheedle's performance in Iron Man 2 just felt cold and unlikable, and I just did not enjoy his character. I didnt like the fact that Stark's "best-friend" could stab him in the back so easily by stealing his armor, and we're still expected to embrace his friendship in the end.

The worst thing about the film is that its just too short. I didnt like the fact that Ivan Vanko was so easily defeated in the end and everything was completely happy and perfect in the end. I would have liked to see Whiplash returning in future Iron Man films, and I believe he could offer much more to future story lines. I also dont like how the writers are pushing the film towards "The Avengers". One thing that attracted me to the Iron Man franchise was that even with the futuristic gadgets, the film is set in some-what reality. With introducing characters from "The Avengers", it sort of takes the film away from the realness that I love. But that's just my opinion.

In all, this movie is amazing. It offers jaw-dropping visuals and action packed battles, and stimulates your need for a great story line at the same time. Overall I'd say I rate this movie at 4 STARS. I highly recommend that if you havent already, go see Iron Man 2!!!

Please Stand By

Ok, we know we've been lagging really bad. Im seriously embarressed of how we've neglected the toy community over the last couple weeks, and I apologize. Andrea and I have just been really busy with other things and just have not had the time to update anything toy related. We've been traveling a lot lately so we havent really been home. Another thing that really sucks is that we dont really have the money right now to spend on collectibles so its really heartbreaking to see all the new things coming out knowing that there is a chance that we might not be able to get them. So please everyone just stay with us, we promise we havent forgotten about any of you guys. We'll have reviews and toy updates up soon, and once again we apologize about the absence lately. Thanks for understanding.

Sneak Peak!!! Hot Toys 1:6 Iron Man 2 Mark IV

The hands at Hot Toys have been lately recently, because not far after revealing their 1:6 War Machine, 1:6 Whiplash, 1:4 Mark IV bust and 1:4 War Machine bust...they released a teaser for the new 1:6 Iron Man 2 Mark IV and it is a beauty.
Can tell you much about it yet, but trust me the minute we know more we'll be posting. =]

Hot Toys 1:6 Clash of the Titans Perseus

Last week I spoke about the new Hot Toys 1:6 scale Clash of the Titans Perseus figure. With the success of the movie already showing, HT got their preview photos out pretty fast. True to what I noticed...the armor is too square and is not completely movie accurate. Thats the only gripe I truly have about this figure. This figure features so many accessories, it definitely packs the bang for your buck.

NECA Terminator 2 Series 3

As Ive said before, Im very impressed with NECA's Terminator 2: Judgement Day action figure line. Thier upcoming Series 3 is no exeption. These figures are truly a spectacle, and I'd have to say its their best Terminator sculpts yet. The craftsmenship and detail in painting that went into this series is very impressive and for the US$16.00 price tag is a steal. The new series features 4 new additions:

T-1000 Pescadero - The figure features the damage he endures when he first meets up with the T-800 in the Pescadero Hospital. The figure boasts bullet wounds, hook arms, and two different heads, an exploded head after taking a shotgun blast, and a split head as he forms back together.

T-800 Steel Mill - This T-800 is a predecessor of the Final Battle Version from the previous series The figure comes with a pistol and grenade launcher, and articulation including a ball-jointed neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, and swivel waist.

T-800 Battle Across Time - This figure is an exclusive rendition of the T-800 from the T2-3D movie attraction at Universal Studios theme parks entitled "Battle Across Time". The figure features a shotgun and plasma rifle.

T-1000 Galleria - This is the figure of the T-1000 as he first appears in his police uniform pursuing John Connor in the shopping mall. He boasts five interchangeable hands and a pistol.

Hot Toys news - PREDATORS!

Ok, I know Im late on this one but oh well. More news coming from Hot Toys; along with announcing their other movie licences for Clash of the Titans, Prince of Persia, Avatar, and Iron Man 2...HT tells us they have just aquired the movie licensing rights to Robert Rodriguez's upcoming film Predators.

"Expecting Robert Rodriguez’s Predators movie and the amazing Hot Toys’ collectible figures? Wonderful news for all Predators fans! Today, we are proud to announce the upcoming license on the collectible figures for the long-anticipated Predators movie. The film will be launched in July this year! Another great Movie Masterpiece of the year, don’t miss it! Stay tuned!"

-Hot Toys

Lately Ive been getting into the Predator movies and Ive actually thought about purchasing a figure from HT. The problem is...they go for almost US$300. So the fact that they're going to manufacture a new line of Predators brings joy to my heart. =]
We'll have you updated as soon as previews are realeased. Hopefully they dont take as long as they are for the 1:6 Iron Man 2 Whiplash figure. The teaser was released almost 2 weeks ago and we still have no photos of it. Damn Hot Toys and anticipation.

Hot Toys-Clash of the Titans Is Coming!

Hot Toys recently came out with this preview of their Perseus figure from Clash of the Titans. I would write more about it...but Im about to leave to go see the movie. X]

UPDATE 4-3-10
Clash of Titans was Epic. An amazing movie all around. I have to admit, I saw the 1981 original motion picture and read the original book as a child, so I knew for the most part what was going to happen in the movie. What I was not anticipating were some of the changes to the original story line. I loved it, the director really did a good job. The visuals were pretty stunning, and seeing it in RealD 3D was pretty crazy. In my opinion, this movie's visuals were grand enough that it would even look pretty breath taking in 2D as well.

The original "CLASH OF THE TITANS" from 1981

We actually have a picture of the original Kracken as a statue. =]

After seeing the movie and reviewing some pictures online, I noticed something about Hot Toys new Perseus preview photo...one big flaw. Unfortunately it seems HT didnt pay much attention to detail to Perseus' chest armor. If you look in the comparison pictures below, you can clearly see that the shape is all wrong. I know to some this may not seem like a big deal, but I look for complete realism and movie accuracy in my figures and thats just a deal breaker for me. Now, as we've seen from the original MMS Joker in the past, Hot Toys may have gotten this wrong due to poor referencing from the movie research. It could also be that its just the prototype is off. We can hope that since the movie has now been released that HT will fix this flaw in time for the figures release. So thats all for now, we will keep you updated!
